On January 14, during one of the 

series of briefings on China’s high 

quality economic development held 

by the State Council Information 

Office, Vice Governor of the 

People’s Bank of China Xuan 

Changneng stated the recent 

acceleration in the diversification of 

the international monetary system 

has led to a steady rise in the 

demand for the RMB in trade 

settlements, investments, and 

financing. Regarding payment 

capabilities, the RMB has now 

emerged as the fourth most active 

currency for global payments by 

value. In terms of financing, it ranks 

among the top three currencies for 

global trade financing. Additionally, 

over 80 overseas central banks or 

monetary authorities have 

incorporated the RMB into their 

foreign exchange reserves.

1月14日，国务院新闻办公室举行“中国经济高质量发展成效”系列新闻发布会，中国人民银行副行长宣昌能表示，近年来，随着国际货币体系多元化发展的步伐加快，经济主体使用人民币进行贸易结算和投融资的内生需求不断增强。在支付功能方面，人民币目前已经成为全球第四位的支付货币；在融资功能方面，人民币成为全球前三大贸易融资货币；在储备功能方面，80多个境外央行或货币当局将人民币纳入外汇储备。

On January 16 at 10:30 PM, Sri 

Lankan President Dissanayake led a 

delegation to arrive at Chengdu 

Shuangliu International Airport to 

commence his visit to Sichuan. 

Reports indicate that President 

Dissanayake is undertaking a state 

visit to China from January 14 to 

17 at the invitation of President Xi 

Jinping. This visit is significant as 

it marks his first trip to China since 

assuming office, with Sichuan being 

the concluding destination of his 

visit in China.

1月16日22时30分，斯里兰卡总统迪萨纳亚克率团乘机抵达成都双流国际机场，开启访川之行。据悉，应国家主席习近平邀请，斯里兰卡总统迪萨纳亚克于1月14日至17日对中国进行国事访问。此次来华是迪萨纳亚克总统就任以来首次到访中国，四川是其访华行程的最后一站。

a speech. Consul generals (acting 

consul generals) and officials of 20 

countries in Chengdu (Chongqing), 

including Austria, Belarus, Turkey, 

Japan, Singapore, Brazil, the United 

Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Canada, 

Nepal, South Korea, Thailand, 

Chile, Myanmar, Pakistan, Australia, 

Israel, France, and Italy, along with 

representatives from Chengdu-based

and representatives from various 

national chambers of commerce, 

city representatives attended the 

reception. They had the opportunity 

to experience traditional Chinese 

New Year activities, such as writing 

Spring Festival couplets, 

appreciating fine liquor, and tasting 

new tea. They fully immersed 

themselves in the profound cultural 

heritage and the multifaceted 

elements of life that the Spring 

Festival represents. Together, they 

celebrated the first “World Year” 

after the successful inclusion of the 

Chinese New Year on the United 

Nations Educational, Scientific and 

Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) 

list of intangible cultural heritage.
