Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior 

Championships 2024 kicked off in 

Chengdu University of Traditional 

Chinese Medicine Wenjiang Campus 

Gymnasium. 

”8月20日，随着3名羽毛球运动员代表将羽毛球发出，2024亚洲U17暨U15青少年羽毛球锦标赛，在成都中医药大学温江校区体育馆正式开赛。

From August 20 to 25，Wenjiang will 

witness exhilarating competitions in 

the Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior 

Championships 2024. 344 young 

athletes from 12 countries and regions 

will gather here to display their 

sportsmanship and unleash their 

youthful vitality.

8月20日-25日，温江进入激情飞扬的亚青羽赛周期。来自12个国家和地区的344名年轻运动员将在这里激扬运动风采、迸发青春活力。

It is another international badminton 

event held in Chengdu following the 

TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber 

Cup Finals 2024, presenting a 

badminton feast at the doorstep of 

Wenjiang. Players are categorized into 

two age groups: U17 and U15, and the 

competitions include preliminary 

contests, quarterfinals, semifinals and 

finals, involving men's singles,women's 

singles, men's doubles, women's 

doubles and mixed doubles.

这是继汤尤杯之后又一场国际性羽毛球赛事在蓉举办，也是温江市民身边触手可及的一场羽毛球盛宴。比赛分为U17和U15两个年龄段，分为初赛、四分之一决赛、半决赛、决赛，设置男子单打、女子单打、男子双打、女子双打和混合双打等多个项目。

On the field, players engaged in 

thrilling competitions, showcasing 

powerful strokes and agile movements 

as they raced neck and neck. "My 

opponent is also very strong, but I did 

better in the critical points of the 

match," said Chinese athlete Jiang 

Wenrui, who triumphed over a 

competitor from the Republic of Korea. 

She said that this was her first time to 

participate in an international event, 

which enabled her to understand the 

level of foreign peers and motivate 

herself to strive for continuous 

improvement.

赛场上，强有力的挥拍、灵活的转位，双方的比分你追我赶，运动员们展开了精彩对决。“对方选手也很强，但自己在关键分的比拼上，做得更好。”中国队选手蒋汶芮与来自韩国的选手对决，最终赢得该场次比赛。她表示，这是她第一次参加国际性赛事，通过比赛，能够了解外国同龄选手的水平，激励自己不断提升竞技水平。

understanding of competitions and 

helped them accumulate valuable 

experience, but also provided them 

with a clearer perspective on their 

standing in international competitions 

in comparison to their peers," said 

Zhang Yawen, a former member of the 

Chinese badminton team who won the 

champion in the BWF World 

Championships, and currently the 

coach of the Chinese badminton team 

and the leader of China's U17 men's 

singles team. She believes that 

participating in such an international 

event will be very beneficial to the 

future development of young players.

“不仅丰富了比赛阅历，积累了比赛经验，也让他们更好地了解了在国际赛场中，在同龄选手中水平的层次。”原中国羽毛球队队员、世锦赛羽毛球冠军张亚雯是中国队参赛球员的教练，带队U17 的男子单打，她认为，参加这样一个国际赛事对青少年队员今后的发展十分有益。

Outside the field of play, Wenjiang 

combines the panda pattern in the logo 

of the event, with cultural elements 

such as the ancient Yufu Kingdom and 

the Temple of Confucius, creating a 

badminton competition atmosphere 

with Wenjiang characteristics.

Meanwhile, it has built booths to sell

As a highly regarded regular junior 

sports event in the region, the 

Badminton Asia Junior Championships 

organized by Badminton Asia holds 

great significance in discovering and 

training promising badminton athletes. 

It provides a significant platform for 

cultural exchange and integration. It is 

worth mentioning that the last session 

of the event was successfully held in 

Wenjiang last October.

亚洲青少年羽毛球锦标赛是由亚洲羽毛球联合会组织的区域性国际高水平常规青少年赛事，承载着发现及锻炼优秀羽毛球后备力量的重要任务，也是促进文化交流融合的重要平台。值得一提的是，该项赛事已于去年10月在温江成功举办过一届。

"Compared with last year, Wenjiang 

owns richer experience and has made 

great progress in event organization 

and services," said Chooi Weng Sheng, 

Chief Operating Officer of Badminton 

Asia. He told the reporters that the 

holding of this year's Badminton Asia 

U17 & U15 Junior Championships in 

Wenjiang reflects two-way efforts. In 

his opinion, the badminton atmosphere 

in Wenjiang is very good, with many 

residents, particularly young people, 

enjoying this sport. This has created a 

conducive environment for hosting 

sports events, promoting the healthy 

development of badminton, and 

fostering synergy among the cultural, 

sports, and tourism sectors.

“相比去年，今年温江再次承办该项赛事，拥有更为丰富的经验，在赛事组织、服务等方面有了很大的进步。”亚羽联首席运营官崔永声告诉记者，今年亚洲U17暨U15青少年羽毛球锦标赛再度于温江举行，是双向奔赴的结果，在他看来，温江的羽毛球氛围非常好，喜欢这项运动的市民特别是青少年尤其多，具有以赛营城、促进羽毛球运动健康发展和推动文体旅游产业集聚成势的良好土壤。
