Tying colorful threads, wearing 

sachets, and making rice dumplings... 

On June 2, before the Dragon Boat 

Festival, the Foreign Affairs Office 

of Wenjiang District held the activity 

of "Wenjiang, A Warm Family: Meet 

the Dragon Boat Festival" with the 

theme of "experiencing the 

traditional culture of the Dragon Boat 

Festival." More than 30 foreign 

representatives from the universities 

and "Meet" Chinese Corner in 

Wenjiang participated in the 

activities held in the Qilin Community 

and University Town Community 

respectively to experience together 

the culture and customs of the Dragon 

Boat Festival, embracing the charm 

of traditional Chinese culture.

系五彩线、佩戴香囊、包粽子……6月2日，端午节到来之前，区外事办开展了以“体验端午传统文化”为主题的温江一家亲·域见粽香情活动。驻温高校和“域见”汉语角外籍人士代表30余人分别在綦临社区和大学城社区共同体验端午文化习俗，感受中华传统文化魅力。

"The Dragon Boat Festival is a 

traditional festival in China. On the 

fifth day of the fifth lunar month 

every year, people will row dragon 

boats, eat zongzi, hang wormwood 

and calamus, tie colorful threads, 

and wear sachets." In the Qilin 

Community, the staff introduced the 

folk customs of the Dragon Boat 

Festival to the foreign participants 

and led them to get sachets, wash 

their hands with calamus water, and 

then tie colorful threads.

“端午节是中国的传统节日，到了每年的五月初五这一天，大家会划龙舟、吃粽子、挂艾草与菖蒲、系五彩线、佩香囊等等。”在綦临社区，工作人员一边向参加活动的外籍人士介绍端午民俗，一边带领大家领取香囊、用菖蒲水洗手，再系上五彩线。

"I have learned about the Dragon 

Boat Festival in China before. In 

addition to making zongzi today, I also

want to learn more about the culture 

and folk customs of this festival." 

Nguyen Bich Ngoc, a Vietnamese 

student from the Southwestern 

University of Finance and Economics, 

told the reporter.

“之前就了解过中国人的端午节，今天除了来体验包粽子，还想了解更多关于这个节日的文化民俗。”来自越南的西南财经大学留学生阮碧玉告诉记者。

"It's my first time to experience the 

interesting folk customs of the 

Dragon Boat Festival in China. I 

have made many friends here." Wang 

Yirui, a Malaysian student from the 

Southwestern University of Finance 

and Economics, expressed great 

interest in the upcoming session on 

making zongzi.

“第一次跟大家一起来体验端午节的民俗，非常有趣，在这里还交到了很多朋友。”来自马来西亚的西南财经大学留学生王艺睿同样对接下来的包粽子环节充满了期待。

"First of all, pick up two leaves and 

roll them into a funnel shape. Then, 

add glutinous rice, pork, chestnuts..." 

Under the guidance of the staff, the 

participants eagerly started making 

zongzi following the demonstrated 

steps. Gao Li, an international student 

from the Republic of the Congo at the 

Southwestern University of Finance 

and Economics, recorded the scene 

with his mobile phone. "I always 

associate the Dragon Boat Festival 

with dragon boats and zongzi. This 

is not my first time experiencing this 

festival in China. But this time, I want 

to make a video of it so that my 

friends in Africa can also learn about 

China's traditional culture and my life 

in Wenjiang."

“先拿起两片粽叶，将叶子卷成漏斗形，再放入糯米、猪肉、板栗……”在工作人员的带领下，大家一边听讲解，一边观看示范操作，迫不及待地跟着动手包起粽子。来自刚果（布）的西南财经大学留学生高力一直用手机记录着现场，“提到端午节，我就会想到龙舟和粽子，这已经不是我第一次在中国体验端午节了。但这一次我想用视频记录下来，让远在非洲的朋友们也能了解中国的传统文化以及我在温江的生活。”

In the University Town Community, 

there was also a lively activity of 

making zongzi. Participants engaged 

in processes such as adding glutinous 

rice, pressing rice fillings tightly, 

wrapping up, and tying the threads, 

with talks and cheers igniting a warm 

and festive atmosphere.

另一边，大学城社区的包粽子体验也十分热闹，装填糯米、压紧压实、封口、捆绑，时而交流，时而欢呼，呈现出热闹温馨的节日氛围。

According to relevant officials from 

the Foreign Affairs Office of 

Wenjiang District, the Dragon Boat 

Festival is a traditional festival in 

China, with rich and meaningful folk 

activities. The purpose of organizing 

this activity is to let the 

representatives of foreigners 

working, studying, and living in 

Wenjiang experience the folk customs 

of this traditional festival in advance, 

help them fully understand and 

experience the excellent traditional 

culture of China, and allow them to 

better integrate into life in Wenjiang. 

This activity also aimed at telling the 

story of China .

区外事办相关负责人表示，端午是中国的传统节日，民俗活动丰富而有寓意，我们组织在温工作、学习和生活的外籍人士代表提前体验传统节日的民俗，希望能够让大家更充分地了解、体验中国优秀传统文化，融入在温江的生活，也通过这种方式，讲好中国故事，传播中国声音。
