On January 26, the 2024 Consular 

Reception was held in Chengdu. 

Guests invited to participate in the 

event included consuls general (or 

acting consuls general) of 16 

countries, including Chile, Australia, 

Belarus, and the Netherlands, in 

Chengdu (Chongqing), 

representatives of consular officers 

of Myanmar, France, and South 

Korea in Chengdu (Chongqing), 

representatives of foreign chambers 

of commerce in Chengdu, city 

representatives, and representatives 

of institutions from Hong Kong 

and Macao special administrative 

regions in Chengdu. 

1月26日，2024年领事官员新春联谊会在蓉举行，智利、澳大利亚、白俄罗斯、荷兰等16个国家驻蓉（渝）总领事（代总领事）以及缅甸、法国、韩国驻蓉（渝）领事官员代表，外国驻蓉商会代表和城市代表、港澳机构驻蓉代表等嘉宾应邀出席活动。

The Chengdu Twelve Monthly Fairs 

Garden Party was held at the on-site 

venue of the event. It provided a 

chance for both Chinese and foreign 

guests to conduct an immersive 

exploration of what life scenes in 

Chengdu looked like in the past, 

including watching Sichuan opera, 

tasting good wines and new tea, and 

listening to Chinese guqin music. 

They actively engaged in interactive 

folk cultural games, such as paper 

quilling, Shu embroidery, rope 

braiding, and bamboo weaving. The 

New Year Fair also offered many 

experience activities, where 

participants wrote Spring Festival 

couplets, made paper-cuts for 

window decoration, painted sugar 

paintings, did Spring Festival 

shopping, took part in the New Year 

celebration and praying activity, 

conducted interactive exchanges, 

and visited the New Year-themed 

installations for taking pictures. 

Through these activities, they 

deeply experienced Chengdu’s 

profound and longstanding cultural 

heritage, the stylish aesthetics of 

contemporary life, and the diverse 

and vibrant life scenes that define 

the essence of Chengdu.

活动现场举办了“成都十二月市游园会”，中外嘉宾们沉浸式体验看川戏、赏美酒、品新茶、听古琴等老成都生活场景，积极参与衍纸、蜀绣、绳编、竹编等民俗文化互动游戏，在新年市集上写春联、剪窗花、画糖画、买年货、迎新祈福、互动交流、打卡新春主体装置，切身感受成都厚重悠久的人文内涵、时尚潮流的生活美学和“最成都”的市井烟火生活百态。

exquisite paper quilling painting 

was made from various materials by 

Mr. Wang Linjiang, a craftsman 

from Yanjiang Cultural & Creative, 

in a moment. Under Mr. Wang’s 

guidance, Chinese and foreign 

guests personally experienced the 

making process of paper quilling 

works. They completed their hand-

made paper quilling works through 

rolling, pinching, and collage 

techniques, experiencing a sense of 

accomplishment never seen before. 

"It’s beautiful and unique. I’ve seen 

many handicrafts in Chengdu 

before, but I’ve never seen paper 

quilling paintings," said one 

representative from the Chinese and

foreign guests who praised paper 

quilling.

台前，中外嘉宾好奇地看着各种材料在来自“衍匠”的王林江老师手中飞舞，不一会儿就形成了一副精致的衍纸画。在王老师的指导下，中外嘉宾下场体验，通过自己的双手让各色纸条以卷、捏、拼贴等方式组合成一件件衍纸作品，感受到了从未有过的成就感。“很漂亮、很特别，以前在成都看到过很多工艺品，但从来没见过衍纸画。”中外嘉宾对衍纸好评满满。

The paper quilling painting 

exhibition booth at this event was 

established by the Yanjiang Cultural 

& Creative Base for People with 

Disabilities founded by Huimin 

Community. Its entry into the event 

was recommended by the Foreign 

Affairs Office, the People’s 

Government of Wenjiang District 

and Gongping Sub-district. Yanjiang 

Cultural & Creative is dedicated to 

training cultural and creative talent 

among people with disabilities and 

designing, producing, and selling 

cultural and creative products made 

by people with disabilities. This 

initiative aims to foster the 

development of the cultural and 

creative industry for people with 

disabilities and provide them with 

employment opportunities. The 

entity’s independently developed 

paper quilling works, "Rongbao" 

and "Emblem", were designated as 

licensed products for the Chengdu 

2021 FISU World University Games 

sponsored by the program "Friendly 

Games · Licensing for Public 

Welfare+". They received 

widespread recognition from 

various parties.

本次活动的衍纸画展台来自惠民社区创建的“衍匠”残疾人文创基地，由区外事办、公平街道共同推荐至活动现场。“衍匠”通过引育残疾人文创人才，设计制作销售残疾人文创产品，促进残疾人文创产业发展，为残疾人提供就业岗位。其自主开发的衍纸作品——“蓉宝”“会徽”成为第31届世界大学生运动会“友善大运特许公益+”特许商品，得到了各方的广泛认可。

It is said that this year, the Foreign 

Affairs Office, the People’s 

Government of Wenjiang District, in 

collaboration with various district-

level departments, will showcase 

Wenjiang elements on multiple 

international stages, making 

continued efforts to tell the 

captivating stories of Wenjiang.

据悉，今年区外事办还将联动不同区级部门，让温江元素在多个国际舞台上充分展示，持续讲好温江故事。
