Great Experience! Students from Wenjiang Visit Chengdu International Sister Cities Exhibition with MEET HOME IN WENJIANG
Diversity spurs interaction among
civilizations, which in turn promotes
mutual learning and their further
development.
In June, MEET HOME IN WENJIANG
led more than 20 students from Chengdu
Wenjiang Pengcheng Primary School to
visit Chengdu International Sister Cities
Exhibition. Through an urban culture
class, they experienced the friendly
exchanges between Chengdu and foreign
countries.
Chengdu International Sister Cities
Exhibition, located in the northwest corner
of Tianfu Square, covers an area of about
1,100 square meters. As a "calling card"
for Chengdu's international friendly
exchanges, Chengdu International Sister
Cities Exhibition has displayed more than
200 exhibits such as sculptures, books,
ceramics, paintings, musical instruments,
costumes, toys, art ornaments and sporting
goods. Most of them are gifts from foreign
exchange activities. This offline exhibition
hall of Chengdu's "circle of friendship"
allows students to feel up close and
understand this colorful world.
Under the guidance of the commentator,
students visited six exhibition halls in
turn, including Asia Hall, Africa Hall,
America Hall, Oceania Hall, Europe Hall
and Chengdu Hall. Precious pictures and
rare physical exhibits showed the fruitful
achievements and wonderful course of
Chengdu's exchanges with its sister cities
over the past 40 years, which widened
the students' horizon and made them
reluctant to leave.
In the class of "Hello! Chengdu", the
teacher displayed another side of
Chengdu's history in an interesting way,
allowing students to explore the city in
depth and discuss the past, present and
future of the city together. This class
enables students to have a deeper
understanding of the city where they
live. It helps cultivate patriotism,
strengthen cultural confidence, and lay
a foundation for the students to adapt
to future social development.
At the end of the activity, students
experienced a handicraft of making balls
used for cuju (Chinese traditional
football) under the guidance of the
teacher. Through this experience,
students had a clear understanding of
the ancient cuju culture. Their interest
in ancient culture was enhanced, and
their hands-on ability and problem-
solving ability were improved. Holding
the balls made by themselves, students
had a great sense of achievement. They
have learned a lot from it and are
willing to participate in other similar
activities in the future.
