Tips
1. If your Driving License is invalid for
over two years due to expiration or
cancellation, you must get a new
Chinese Driving License upon returning
to China should you choose to drive.
2. Driving without a valid Chinese
Driving License will be considered as
driving without a license and liable
to be detained for 15 days and fined
200-2,000 RMB.
3. Those who hold an overseas motor
vehicle driving license, meet the
application conditions of Provisions
on the Application for and Use of Motor
Vehicle Driving Licenses, and have
lived in the country or region where
the driving license is issued for more
than 90 days in one year may apply
for a motor vehicle driving license
corresponding to the permitted type
of vehicle. Those who apply for a
driving license of the permitted type
of a large passenger car, heavy-duty
tractor-trailer, or medium bus shall
have obtained an overseas motor
vehicle driving license of the
corresponding permitted type of
vehicle for more than two years.
4. Those who hold an overseas
motor vehicle driving license and
apply for a motor vehicle driving
license of the People's Republic
of China shall take the test on
Subject One. Those who apply
for driving licenses for large
passenger cars, heavy-duty
tractor-trailers, city buses,
medium buses, and large trucks
shall take the tests on Subject
One, Subject Two and Subject
Three.

1.如果驾照过期2年以上没有及时更换或已注销2年以上，返回中国后需要重新考取中国驾照。
2.不考取中国驾照开车上路会按无证驾驶处理，拘留15天并罚款200元至2000元不等。
3.持有境外机动车驾驶证，符合《机动车驾驶证申领和使用规定》的申请条件，且取得该驾驶证时在核发国家或者地区一年内累计居留九十日以上的，可以申请对应准驾车型的机动车驾驶证。属于申请准驾车型为大型客车、重型牵引挂车、中型客车机动车驾驶证的，还应当取得境外相应准驾车型机动车驾驶证二年以上。
4.持境外机动车驾驶证申请机动车驾驶证的，应当考试科目一。申请准驾车型为大型客车、重型牵引挂车、城市公交车、中型客车、大型货车机动车驾驶证的，应当考试科目一、科目二和科目三。
