The fan was made of silk, on which a
Chinese ink painting with two swallows
was drawn with fingers. The painting
depicts two swallows flying over the
bridge between the green willows. The
swallows were drawn with fingertips,
with bold and vigorous strokes. They
look lifelike with clear feathers. In
addition, part of their heads is light
reddish brown, a highlight of the painting.
The delicate, thin-ink-colored bridge
and the vibrant green willows were
meticulously crafted with skillful
fingertips and arranged in perfect
proportion to create a stunning contrast
against the graceful swallows, resulting
in a truly delightful sight.
On the right side of the fan are the
inscriptions, reading that "Purple
swallows are twittering and flying over
a small bridge between newly-growing
willows. Have they ever experienced
bitterness? Their empty nest seems to
glow under the bright moon." (The two
Chinese characters of "Ying Zeng" were
written below the Chinese character
"Jing" in the inscriptions) To Yu Sheng
in the autumn of the Renyin Year. Finger
painting by Liu Hengxi". In addition,
there is a red square seal at the end of the
inscriptions.
